A man died Thursday after a three-alarm blaze broke out at an apparent homeless encampment with pack-rat conditions at a commercial building in West Hollywood, fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to a blaze in the 9000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard shortly before midnight Wednesday, Inspector Chris Reade with the L.A. County Fire Department said.
The fire broke out at a two-story commercial building that had been scheduled for demolition for five years and turned into an apparent a homeless encampment, officials said.
