The third round of the U.S. Open yesterday (Saturday) involved smoke and fire. Fox Sports TV coverage diverted from the action momentarily to a boathouse burning at the Narrows Marina at the south end of 19th Street in Tacoma, Washington. The U.S. Open was being played at Chambers Bay in University Place, a few miles from the fire.
The play-by-play of the fire (in the video below) was provided by Joe Buck. The smoke could easily be seen from the golf course and the blimp shots showed the national TV audience the fire as it burned up 30 boats inside the building.
